So being that my Instagram feed is flooded with with everyone’s vacay pics and on top of that our home flooded, I really need to just brighten up the blog and take my mind off of everything. I realized I never shared 90% of our 2016 vacation pictures from Puerto Rico. I also want to start sharing more of our travel photos anyway so now is the best time to start sharing.
With everything that happened in Puerto Rico during and after Hurricane Maria I want to share with you how special and beautiful this place is to us. My husbands family is from there so we have a ton of relatives there which is part of the reason we love the island so much. I strongly encourage you to visit when possible after things settle down there! From what I understand this particular beach is still currently closed as it sustained massive damage from Hurricane Maria. I’m hoping in the future they can recover this beautiful place.
Unfortunately it rained about 80% of the time we were in Puerto Rico but we did get a few beach days in. The first day there we actually went to Luquillo Beach which is one of my favorite place EVER! This area is located on the northeastern coast near Fajardo where we were staying. When you first arrive there is a gate where you pay to park but it’s only $4 or so for the whole day.
The beach is covered in these cute colorful huts. I’m not sure what they are actually for. Initially I thought they were for lifeguards but there were no actual lifeguards anywhere.
People on the beach weren’t using them either though so who knows!
Sofia playing in the sand!
My stepson Alberto ….scoping out the ladies on the beach!
Whenever you are in Puerto Rico make sure you try “Limber”. Limber is like an icy/slushy type treat they make in plastic cups and usually sell for about a dollar. They come in all sorts of flavors like coconut, parcha & mango. So yummy! I think we all ate 2-3 limberes every day! They even make some with alcohol if you are in need of an adult beverage!
Even baby Eleya was in love with the limber!
Speaking of adult beverages, there are kiosks all over this beach that serve food and THE absolute BEST Pina Coladas I have ever had in my life. They are served in pineapples and they have tons of rum! They will run about $14 but worth ever penny. I didn’t actually take a photo of mine though (blame it on the alcohol…I was a bit tipsy!)
If you ever travel to Puerto Rico, Luquillo beach is a must…..clear water, white sand, and an amazing view of the Yunque Rainforest. You can’t ask for much more!
Luquillo also has an amazing view of the Yunque Rainforest….breathtaking!
Sorry I’m not in any of these photos….like most mamas……I was usually behind the lens but in the last year or so I have gotten better at that….sadly I just didn’t do that in PR! BTW stay tuned for more of our Puerto Rico adventure!
