WHAT i SHOOT WITH

I started shooting pictures with my first DSLR around 2010 with a Nikon D5000.  It was a cropped body and I used that camera for almost 7 years.  When I really started understanding more about photography I switched to a D3200 which was a bit better quality but still cropped.  I grew out of that camera really quickly and invested in a full frame Nikon D750 and never looked back.  Shooting full frame is a huge difference but well worth the upgrade.  However the lens that you shoot with is also going to make or break your shots.

So if you are new to blogging and photography, you may be asking yourself what do blogger use to achieve such beautiful pictures.  This can be a complicated answer but I’ll make it as simple as possible.  First things first I know phones have come a long way but don’t use your phone as your go-to camera.

CANON G7X (Video & vlogs)

product details:

For video and vlogs, I use the Canon G7X which is what most vloggers and youtubers use and I highly recommend this little point and shoot because it’s lightweight and compact and takes amazing high-def videos.

I have the first generation of this camera and I’ve had it for many years and it still works great.  Since mine is older it doesn’t have 4k video but the quality is still just as amazing as the day I purchased it. However, if you are purchasing this now, I would suggest the G7x Mark iii so you can have the 4k quality video.

nIKON D750 FULL FRAME (outfits & still shots)

product details:

This is my ride-or-die camera that I use for practically everything.  From outfit photos to landscapes and interiors.  It is my go-to that I take everywhere but I suggest to purchase the body only.  You will save a little bit of my if you purchase the lenses separately since that kit lens that comes standard it’s not a great lens to use anyway.

85mm f/1.8G Fixed Lens

product details:

For detailed shots like portraits where you can stand a good bit away I love the 85 mm lens.  The quality is stunning and you get the most beautiful creamy imagery.  The 85mm is great when you don’t necessarily want to be right in front of the subject.   For example if you want to shoot a ring on someone’s finger or a bouquet they are holding without standing right in front of them the 85 mm will get close up for you.  For portraits this is also A+++

shop all of my CAMERA GEAR

I linked all of my exact equipment below also in case you would like to purchase the same gear!  If you are just starting out I would purchase a DSLR with only the body because the kit lens that comes with it is not that great.  Then purchase one of the lenses I mentioned separately.
