So my sassy 10 year old daughter would probably 100% disagree with the title of this post. Mainly because she thinks she is too cool and mom is lame. She’s constantly telling me I shouldn’t wear a bikini or crop tops. However moms can totally wear crop tops too! Maybe 5 years ago I would have disagreed with you because as a mom I am not a stranger to body insecurities. I am not overweight or anything but HELL, I birthed 2 kids so far and shit just doesn’t look the same anymore. Ya’ll feel me?
On top of that I had major abdominal surgery last fall which left me several scars as well. They are small and barely noticeable, but still there. So here’s the simple solution…No matter your age or size…..Mom’s you CAN wear crop tops too. If you have any tummy insecurities, go for a high-waisted pair of pants. Wearing a cute outfit can do amazing things for your self-esteem too. Personally when I look crummy, I feel crummy. But when I throw on a cute outfit or even jeans and a tee and a little makeup, I feel 100% better and when I feel better, I tend to be a happier better mom in turn.

These cute harem style pants I am wearing are perfection. They cover the belly button and are nice and loose so they are comfortable to wear. I got them from H&M in size XS but they are almost sold out. There are 2 other colors still available in all sizes however i did find another pair on Shop Bop that are almost identical. BTW, when I see harem pants, I see the perfect outfit for binging on margs and tacos…just sayin’! You would also pair your favorite crop tops with high-waisted jeans that really hold you in. Topshop has amazing jeans that suck you in and are very flattering too.
OUTFIT DETAILS & SIZING:
For reference, I’m 5’1″ & under 100 lbs. I normally wear the following sizes: Shoes (6), Tops (XS), Jeans (24/00)
WHITE CROP TOP (SMALL): Forever 21 | SUNNIES: Nordstrom | HAREM PANTS (SZ. XS): H&M (SIMILAR HERE) | SANDALS (SZ. 6): Target | ROUND STRAW TOTE: NY & Company | AQUA RESIN DROP EARRINGS: NY & Company
So I’m just curious to know what my fellow moms think? Do you deal with body insecurities after becoming a mom or are you even more confident now? Do you think moms can rock crop tops or should we cover up?

Well if you have a body like that wear ANYTHING you want. I agree that moms can wear crop tops too and even wore one recently myself, twice. Love this casual but put-together look. Great harrem pants and I cannot believe you have a 10-year old. I just came back from vacation Erica and yesterday I saw this teenage girl (probably 17 or 18) and her body was full of scars and a lot of birth-marks but she was rocking a two-piece bikini and you know, why not?! She looked awesome and it is all about confidence anyway!

Sorry Im so late seeing this comment and yes even if you dont have a “perfect body” or you have scars…..any woman should be able to wear bikinis and what they like if it makes them feel better. Clothes should make you feel good and you should dress for yourself not to make anyone else happy. Honestly when you see lots of people in Europe at beaches you see 70 and 80 year old grandmas in bikinis….Same in countries in S. America…..and I think its great!
You look fantastic in your crop top. I love your style! xx Passion fruit, Paws and Peonies
Thank you so much!
Oh my! That looks so much better then my cropped top! Fantastic look babe!
Nancy….I’m sure that you look amazing in your cropped top!!!
Wow, you look beautiful! I do wear a lot more crop tops now — I guess I finally have the self confidence to rock it!
yesssssssssssssss I love to hear it!
Yes they can!! You look great! Love that crop!
YES! You look amazing! There’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to wear crops too!

Luckily I didn’t get any stretch marks on my belly after 3 kids and the weight just dropped off. All my old clothes fit and I love wearing sexy outfitsb including crop tops but I feel like I get the dress like a mom stare. I have swimming lessons with my baby this week and am kind of scared to show up in a bikini
Apparently I missed a bunch of comments on this post so Im sorry for the late replay. I totally get this. I’ve gotten stares too like that but I try to brush them off. I truly dont think we as moms need to start wearing frumpy clothes especially to the pool. Rock that bikini if you want to!
Super late to the party but I love this post. I’m a 40 y/o single mom and started sporting crop tops a while ago and I love them. My son hates it and thinks its super cringy though lol.
Thank you! Yes keep wearing them! I am 39 and just because we arent 20 somethings or just because we are moms doesnt mean we can’t be fashionable too. Life doesnt end after a certain age or after having kids. You have to wear what makes you feel good 🙂
