PETITE-FRIENDLY FLORAL MAXI DRESS

If you are a petite girl like me, I’m pretty sure you have trouble finding maxi dresses that fit properly. I am only 5’1″ and 95-ish lbs and I’m usually swimming in every maxi dress I find. Sometimes I find one that does actually fit in the bodice but they still drag on the floor. The other day I was in Target (surprise, surprise) & I found the most perfect petite-friendly floral maxi dress!
In most items at Target I take an XS so I grabbed XS in this dress and to my surprise it was perfect! The bodice fit true-to-size but the length is just above the floor if I’m wearing flat sandals, which means it will work with heels or flats. More importantly that means I won’t trip over a super long dress and fall on my face! Ha!

About the Dress
First & foremost, please excuse my pale ass legs! Seriously though, why are my legs so dang white? I never even notice until I see them in photos. I usually apply self tanner but when I don’t ….my legs are pretty much transparent. This is because I am almost always in jeans even during the summer since I work in an office Monday through Friday. The only time my legs see the light of day is sadly on the weekend. I digress…on to the dress details.
I also love all of the details in this dress. The mustard color is huge right now. This summer I think it has been THE most popular color in the world of fashion. The floral pattern on this dress is somewhat of a magenta color and is also gorgeous. There is an open slit in the front of the dress as well. One reviewer said the slit was too high but again I am only 5’1″ and it comes to about mid-thigh so it works perfectly for me. The top of the dress has a tie-up front which I love because it gives just the perfect amount of detailing that you don’t even need to wear a necklace. I also added a waist-belt I recently purchased from express to dress it up a little more.
How I styled it...
Earlier I mentioned this maxi dress would work with heels or flats. Here I wore it with one of my favorite pairs of sandals right now. I have literally been wearing these little gladiator slide sandals with everything. They comfy and cute and pretty durable considering I wear them constantly. This floral maxi dress can esaily transition to a night out by just changing your shoes to a cute pair of heels! Hopefully this dress is one that my fellow petite girlies love as much as I do! BTW this dress is is under $30 and you can purchase online and pick up in store which I LOVE! Yellow is the color of the season but I am not mad about it at all! I too can relate regarding swimming in maxi dresses. A lot of the times a piece of item doesn’t work for me is because the fit is just wrong regardless if the size said XS. I love this maxi dress you found. There’s so much little details to love and it really looks great on you. Isn’t Target the best?

This is so cute on you! I just got a mustard color maxi dress too…I think you are right, yellow is the color of the summer! I typically trip on maxi dresses and I’m 5’5″, so I can only imagine how good it must feel for you to get one that’s not gigantic!
