My New 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring

After all it is November, the month of thanks, and who better to thank then yourself. Today I’m thanking myself for working so hard to pay off all of our debt. I’d like to thank myself for working so hard for my promotion last year and for the last 16 years in the same company, while also working on my blog and online store! Thank you to me for continuing to work hard and striving for excellence every day! Thank you to me for getting my credit to an A+ rating and for achieving financial freedom!
As a token of appreciation for myself, and for years of hard work put in I bought a new car for the first time since 2008! Here is it you guys, my brand new 2022 Honda Civic Sport Touring! This is also only my second *NEW* car ever. I’ve owned several used cars that lasted for years and years but the last NEW car I bought was back in 2002 at the age of 18! For the last 20 years I have worked hard to get myself to a great financial position and credit rating so I deserve it!

Why I bought new
Like I said, the used car inventory is very low right now Initially I was thinking maybe I would find a car with low miles 2-3 years old but we weren’t finding anything we liked. Due to the worldwide chip shortage the new car inventory on site is very low and the availability of used cars is next to nothing. If you are lucky enough to find a used car the prices are so inflated that you are going to pay the same asa new car anyway. You might as well buy something new!
With that in mind, I was out looking hot and heavy for something within the budget I set but we couldn’t find a new car for what I wanted to pay. That got me thinking that I worked so hard to get my new position at work, paying my debts to zero, working on my blog and regular job sometimes 12 hours a day so you know what, who cares if I have to pay more! I deserve to drive an amazing car so why not splurge once in awhile!
how I chose this specific car
Honda was not even on my radar at the beginning of my car search. Initially I wanted to find a small SUV but let’s be honest, most SUVs are gas guzzlers. Part of the reason I was looking was to find a car that was good on gas since I work doing multiple jobs and I drive my kids around all over the place.
A few weeks into the car hunt, I was at the Honda dealership and I saw a 2022 Honda Civic Touring and fell in love. In all honestly a Honda Civic was not on my radar at all so I was a bit skeptical. I knew I wanted either black or white (preferably white) and there were none available anywhere so we ended up custom ordering it. You do have to put down a small deposit of $500 when ordering your car just for the process itself. We placed the order at the beginning of September and the arrival date got pushed back to mid-November.
not the car i ordered
So as I mentioned above the date got pushed back to mid November. Since each car is built to order it takes longer and they said we were looking at around November 15th. Well around mid-October they called and said they happened to get one in but it was not my car. It was literally the exact one I ordered but in the hatchback version and it happened to be the first one to arrive in the entire southeast. They gave me the option to come pick up this one if I liked it better rather than waiting for my ordered car to come in November. I figured why not go take a look since they said it was EXACTLY the same Honda Civic I ordered only in the hatchback version. Of course when I saw it I loved it even more so I said yes right then and there!
Since they already had my $500 deposit all I had to do was a quick credit check and I was approved right away. FYI I also went through my bank for financing not the dealership. Always check your banks rates on new car loans because many times they will have better rates than the dealership does plus it’s more convenient banking wise.
exterior features
ALL BLACK RIMS/TIRES – This is actually one of my most favorite features of the car. In the past I loved the look of shiny chrome and luxury style cars! However since my husband found this I fell in love with the sportier look and the all blacked out rims/tires look amazing against the white body! They do have a bit of a chrome-ish finish over the top layer of the spokes which I’m not a huge fan of so I may purchase some custom ones later.
HATCHBACK BODY STYLE – I love a good hatchback. Not like your mom’s old station wagon from the 70’s and 80’s but I mean a sporty hatchback! Sometimes having a hatchback though reduces the headspace in the backseat which I was worried about but my husband is 6 feet tall and actually had lots of room. This would have been a deal breaker for me since I have a 12 year old son that is getting taller every day. He is usually in the backseat so thankfully he will have plenty of room!
KEYLESS ENTRY – This is such a cool feature because there is no risk of scratching the door when you have your keys in hand. In fact, you don’t need the keys out at all. You can keep them in your purse or pocket and as long as they are on you the car will unlock. The same goes for leaving your car. As you get a certain distance away with keys in hand the car will lock. If the keys are inside of the car it will NOT lock, so there is also no way to lock your keys in the car.
CUSTOM BLACK BADGES – OK so the car didn’t come with these. As you can see in some of the pictures the Honda emblems are chrome. My husband ordered me the custom black emblems to match the sporty vibe of the car. We shot the original photos before they came in the mail because we wanted to get a photo shoot in before it got too cold. Once we got the new badges he put them on and I love how they turned out. We also removed the “Honda Civic” badges from the back to give a little mystery to the car, HA!
interior features
APPLE CAR PLAY/MODERN TECHNOLOGY – My old Avalon is nearly 20 years old so the technology just wasn’t there. I mean the car had a tape deck for cassette tapes & a CD player…HA! Since no one really uses those anymore I was always stuck just listening to radio stations. The car didn’t even have the option to use an aux cord! My new car is just perfection. It comes with a 9” LCD touchscreen and I can finally listen to my favorite podcasts or Spotify like the rest of the modern world! I’m also loving the BOSE sound system!
ALL BLACK & SPORT FINISHES – In the past I loved wood grain interiors but being that this is a sport model the interior finishes are all black as you can see and instead of wood grain the car has a cool honeycomb trim which I love.
BIG BACKSEAT – This goes along with what I mentioned previously about the hatchback style and how it sometimes can reduce the back seat space. Luckily this is not the case with the new Honda Civic Hatchback Style. There is also plenty of leg room so any passengers will be able to ride with lots of comfort.
HEATED FRONT SEATS – From someone that is always cold, heated seats are a must-have, especially during the winter months. I think this would also be a deal-breaker for me when buying a car. My only downside is that I wish the back seat had them too!
MOONROOF/SUNROOF – I’ve always called it a sunroof but I hear people call it a moonroof too. Whatever your preference it I love this feature in a car. Who doesn’t love to feel sunshine and open air? I know I do!
HONDA CIVIC DRIVING MODES
The 2022 Honda Civic also comes with 3 driving modes which are normal, sport & eco. Eco makes it more fuel efficient by reducing the throttle and transmission sensitivity which is good if you are on a long road trip. However so far my favorite mode is the sport mode! Sport mode is pretty much the opposite of eco mode. It enhances the throttle and sharpens the steering for better performance when driving at a higher speed! Speaking of speed this car is fast and I love it but that’s also dangerous. The car is super smooth so you don’t even notice when you are driving really fast!
Since we are talking about driving modes. I mentioned earlier that I was looking specifically for a fuel efficient car. This was a must for me and this car gets up to 33 city / 42 highway mpg! It’s also extremely cost efficient to to fill up. Right now the way gas prices are I DO NOT want a gas guzzler and this car only costs me roughly $27 to fill up!
ISSUES found
I’ll be the first to say I’m not one who really notices things right away. After spending several hours at the dealership picking up the car we did a quick once over and initially didn’t notice anything wrong so we drove off the lot. Luckily there were only a few things that came up after we got home.
DOOR ALIGNMENT – He noticed this before I did, but the front and rear door seams did not perfectly align. It almost looked like the front door was sitting slightly higher if that makes sense. We knew this was not normal because only one side of the car had that and it was on the driver’s side.
WINDSHIELD IMPERFECTION – This was noticed the day he took the car to be tinted and the tint kept having an issue due to a glass imperfection in the windshield. We opted to skip the front tints until we could have the dealership change out the windshield first.
FRONT DETECTION SENSOR – This was something I noticed. The front left sensor kept going off in the middle of driving or even at a redlight when nothing was next to me or in front of me. It was extremely loud and was a continuous sensor and went off even after the car would start moving again.
Luckily thus far the dealership has been amazing and fixed everything right away with no hesitation. For me a dealership that takes care of their customers to ensure their satisfaction is a must. If you are in the Atlanta area I can’t say enough great things about the Mall of Georgia Honda Dealership in Buford, GA! Definitely check them out if you are in the market for a new vehicle!

oUTFIT DETAILS
OK so by now you are probably sick of hearing about my new car. Most of you come here for outfit details so I can’t skip out on that. My faux leather joggers are from Forever 21 along with my cute cropped sweater. Yes I bought some fast fashion pieces so don’t come for me…no one is perfect! However I hope to get lots of use out of these and not just one wear. My combat boots are by the brand blowfish. I bought them last year but they are still available in lots of sizes and a few colors on amazon! They are lined with a soft almost fur like material and super comfortable!
