DIY Mushroom Lamp

This little mushroom lamp DIY project has intrigued me for quite some time. If you are on Tiktok you have probably seen a version of this at some point. Not that long ago, my close friend Megan sent me a video of one of these and ever since then, it’s been on my “to-do” list. When I decided to try this I knew I wanted to make it as simple and budget-friendly as possible especially for anyone who is intimidated by DIY projects.

MAKE YOUR OWN
DETAILS: CLIP ON LAMP SHADE: The Home Depot | LED LANTERN: Dollar Tree or EBay | CLEAR VASE: Amazon or Dollar Tree
The first version I tried was with paint like most of the Tiktok versions. That did not end well. As a person who spray paints all the time, for some reason getting the paint right just wasn’t working out. I knew there has to be a quicker easier way to get this look without the mess of painting.
Supply list
1. Clip on Lamp Shade
2. Gold Hanging LED Light – Dollar Tree (always in Stock) or EBAY
3. Clear Vase – Mine is from Dollar Tree
4. Puck Light
5. Fairy Lights (Optional)
6. 1 Sheet of printer paper or scrapbook paper
Assemble the Lamp
Attach your clip-on lamp shade to the lantern bulb.
Drop your puck light into the vase face up. Then roll up your paper and place it in your vase.
Push the paper roll all the way to the bottom and trim the excess paper at the top.
Place your lamp shade neatly in the vase. The shade will just rest in the top of the vase so that you can easily remove the puck light later to change the battery or to change the paper. Voila! It’s that easy. By using paper to line your vase you can easily switch up the look of your lamp with any color or print. It also saves time and avoids the messiness of paint. If you don’t like the look of paper you can use a vase filler like stones or marbles or anything you like
FYI…this lamp has two light sources which are the puck light and the bulb. I will say the bulb is not the brightest so if you like you can add some extra fairy lights either to the vase or the shade to achieve your desired look. You can also change the look of your lamp by using colored puck lights or colored fairy lights….the possibilities are endless!
