I dont know about you ladies but I love a good day to night style. For those days when you are running around doing errands and then you want go grab drinks in the evening this is perfect way to transition your look. Day to night styles are also super easy and really should only require a quick change in shoes and accessories like I did for this cute skort romper.

day to night style - Plaid rompers & dresses
Now on to the details of this day to night style. Plaid season is officially here! You know that special time of year when all the basic B’s bust out their plaid blanket scarves and skirts! I’m pretty sure blanket scarves night be out this season but I do love this little plaid romper. It’s saw this Forever 21 skort romper on another bloggers feed and I knew I had to have it. The quality is great and the material is nice and thick but beware ladies, it runs extremely small.
Typically I am petite and usually grab XS when I can but per the reviews online I took a chance and sized up to a small. The fit was great but I accidently threw it in the dryer and now its really small. I probably could’ve even went up to a medium safely. It’s a little short but thankfully it’s shorts in the back! Either way it’s super cute and so versatile and that’s why I’m going to show you two ways to wear this today
Denim jacket and ethically-made white sneakers
For the day time look I wore this with my Old Navy Denim jacket that I’ve had for years and I threw on my go-to sneaks from Veja. I have had these sneakers for about a year and they were pricey…I won’t lie, but the quality is worth it. They don’t scuff easily. The best party is Veja only makes their sneakers from vegan leather, ethically sourced rubber and now plastic bottles! AMAZING! You can read more about that process here and their shoes are available at many major retailers including Neiman Marcus, Zappos and Net-A-Porter.
black Knee boots
When you are creating a day to night style it’s all about the shoes and accessories in my opinion. A heel of any height can elevate your look for a sleek evening style. I chose one of my favorite pairs of black Vince Camuto knee boots I purchased last year and I absolutely still love them and will keep them for years to come. They are still available in a bunch of sizes on Amazon but if you get them definitely size up a half size as they are a bit snug. They also have a smaller calf circumference which is good for me since I have really skinny calves. Vince Camuto also came out with another gorgeous pair of knee boots this year that have a brown heel and a square toe. These would also go great for this look and they even have a subtle croc print!
waist belts
Waist belts are the perfect way to pull together skirts and dresses. They can cinch your waist and just define your shape in a perfect way, also adding a bit of glam to your look. A classic Gucci belt would look great for a luxury look but here I snagged this cute Amazon budget find and I love the way it looks! It’s the perfect way to take this romper from day to night!
It's all in the leather and gold accessories
For the daytime look I wore my favorite gold hoops from Amazon. These are my go-to hoops for everyday wear so I kept them on for the night look as well since they are so versatile. A cute bag is a must for a nighttime look as well. I went with this cute cloud pouch bag. This is a save version of the Bottega Veneta cloud bag, but at almost $4,000 a pop I can’t justify a purchase like that right now. While I would love a gorgeous designer piece like that in my wardrobe I definitely prefer the save version I found on Amazon and it looks exactly the same for around $30.
I finished off the look with my favorite faux leather moto jacket that I bought a few years ago and it’s still a favorite for evening looks today! All-in-all this was a super easy look to throw together and extremely budget-friendly too! My basic rule of thumb for day to night is switch to a heeled shoe and add black and gold accessories and your look is ready for a night out!

Hi Erica,
I thought it was a dress first too! I love that it is a skort, and how you dressed it up with the belt and boots. I am all for plaid in the Fall, love the colors in this piece. Very cute and fun for the more casual day look.

Thank you so much Jess! Yes I so love that it’s a romper and not a dress!
This romper is amazing! The look of a cute, trendy dress, but the comfort of shorts.
