Ya’ll my obsession with the stars real! I love anything star/zodiac related. Whether it be clothing or jewelry, I want it all! Ever since I was a kid I have had a love for anything to do with the stars, moons, space, etc. Even as an adult, I’m still obsessed! So in honor of it being Leo season which is my star sign I’m sharing a story about my Leo medallion!
When I was a kid and I first moved to Pennsylvania from Texas we lived with my grandparents in an old Victorian-style home downtown. My mom and brothers stayed on the second floor but I got to stay in the 3rd floor attic that was renovated into an apartment. My Great-Grandma Carmen (who we also called “Mama Chu-Chu”) also stayed up there with me and we would spend hours looking out the window at night just staring at the stars and the moon and thus began my love of all things celestial! Mama Chu-Chu would always tell me to keep looking and I might catch a glimpse of a shooting star or even an alien spaceship so I was always on the lookout.

As I got older Mama Chu-Chu would also read the newspaper every morning. Each day she would read my horoscope to me which I absolutely loved. In case you don’t know I am a Leo which runs July 23rd-August 22nd which happens to be right now! Years ago Mama Chu-Chu brought this gold Leo star sign pendant from Spain or Panama (I can’t remember which) for her daughter (my grandma) who is also a Leo.
Her birthday is August 15th and I was actually due her birthday but I came early on August 9th. So my grandma would always say I was her birthday present! Anyway, if you know anything about Latin culture or you grew up in a Latin family like I did, then you know how much they love their gold jewelry and my Grandma wore her gold medallion every single day. I was always obsessed with this gold Leo medallion but she never let me wear it. It was old and sentimental to her but also solid 18k gold so it was very valuable.
Last year she passed it down to me and I was over the moon. Medallions are huge right now in the world of fashion but this one was special to me for obvious reasons! Years ago she also had a jeweler replicate the design in the other star signs for all of her kids as well and shes even in the process of having 2 made for my own kids! There really isn’t a way to get another one just like this one however blogger and YouTuber Anna Saccone has a gorgeous line of star sign pendants that she designed with Stilnest and those are the closest I have found. Now on to my outfit. I found this adorable star print top the other day at Loft and love it so much! It comes in regular and petite sizes and I’m wearing the XXS Petite. It kind of looks black in the picture online but its really dark navy with white stars. So perfect! My jeans are also from loft and they are cropped with the cutest fringe on the bottom. I got a 24 Petite and normally I prefer a high rise but these are mid-rise and still super cute.
My shoes are also a recent favorite and I only picked them up by accident. Initially I wore this outfit with these Leith Block Heels in white I got them from this years Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and these looked perfect…..however they were so painful that i could only wear them a couple of hours or so before my heels were bleeding. I really really wanted to love them because they are a gorgeous shoe, but they are sadly unbearable to wear. So on my lunch break I ran to the mall because I could not wear them a minute longer. Thankfully I found a pair of white pointed mule flats….also in white that are super comfy! SCORE! They were on clearance and I checked online and there is only one size available but I did find an almost identical pair HERE.

My star sign is Virgo, although I’m not sure what they really means to be honest! I’ve heard lots of Virgos are creative, which suits me to a T, but other than that, I’m pretty clueless. I do love stars though, and that top is adorable!
